Located almost 70 miles from Key West are the seven islands and surrounding waters of the Dry Tortugas National Park.  Originally called Las Tortugas ("the turtles") in Spanish because of the abundance of sea turtles.  This area is still rich with marine and bird life.

Built in the mid-1800's to protect the ports of the Gulf Of Mexico region, Ft. Jefferson (pictured above) never fired a shot in battle.  Once used as a military prision, the Fort was "home" to Dr. Samuel Mudd.  Convicted of complicity in the assassination of President Lincoln.  Mudd was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Your day begins with a trip aboard the 100 passenger state of the art "Fast Cat", a comfortable air conditioned cabin with plenty of windows, or a rear sundeck are available for exceptional views.  Sea Turtles, Dolphin and Flying Fish are often spotted along the way.  The trip takes about 2 1/2 hours.  Your adventure includes continental breakfast, a delicious buffet lunch served in the picnic area of Ft. Jefferson. Complimentary soft drinks, water & iced tea throughout the day.  A tour guided by one of the knowledgeable guides & snorkel gear.  (There is an optional snorkeling trip to Windjammer Wreck for an additional fee and weather permitting).

All tour arrangements can be made with us at The Nassau House.  We even provide towels for you to use on your trip.  Reservations are highly recommended.  If you are interested in booking The Dry Tortugas excursion, please advise us at the time you make your reservation.
